WorkSource: Connecting Workers to Jobs
WorkSource connects workers to jobs all over Northeast Florida by providing education, training and career services. The team at Brunet-García connected them to the diverse network of jobseekers and employers that value their services through an expansive website that makes user access simple and content manageable.
My roles were to lead the scoping and specification of the project, manage the creative / development teams, act as senior content editor and user experience quality control. I was also responsible for documenting how to use the CMS and training the client’s internal team on how to maintain the site.
About the Project
This project was the largest digital project Brunet-García had undertaken so far, and for the sake of the agency’s growing reputation for its website work, it was important the project came in on time and on budget, and that expectations of quality and user experience were met or exceeded.
We were working in consultation with the internal IT team at WorkSource, and in partnership with an ASP.NET development team that was subcontracted to supplement Brunet-García’s internal capabilities. Ultimately the project came in on time and under budget, and the client said the following about the project in the year after its completion:
“In the year after launch, WorkSource served 145,000 customers—48,000 more clients than in 2008. The content and applications in our new website took an enormous amount of pressure off staff in the career centers.”
It was during the course of this project that I developed the process that became Brunet-García’s proprietary approach to digital projects, centered on user needs and the prioritisation architectural features by frequency of tasks and size or importance of user group.
